Transforming Angles

Return to the Congruence and Similarity unit description.

As you work with geometric constructions, you will find that transforming their angles is a useful way to understand and manipulate them. In this activity you’ll transform angles in a variety of constructions, and use them to find which angles are congruent. You'll also animate the transformations, which will be an interesting way to understand the constructions.

  • Page 2: On this page you'll translate angles formed by parallel lines.
  • Page 3: On this page you'll construct the parallel lines yourself, and use rotation to compare the angles with each other.
  • Page 4: On this page you'll construct two pairs of parallel lines and use several ways of transforming angles.
  • Page 5: On this page you'll use transformations to investigate the angles in a right triangle construction.
  • Page 6: You'll use this page to create your own construction and transform its angles.
