Segment Congruence

Return to the Congruence and Similarity unit description.

Congruent segments are segments that can be made to fit exactly, one on top of the other. (This is sometimes called superposition.)

Your task is to use some combination of the rigid motion tools to transform one of these segments so that it lies exactly on top of the other.

Once you succeed, go to the next page for a a slightly different challenge.

Sorry, the worksheet is not yet available.

This page shows an example of an open-ended task asking students to find ways of demonstrating the congruence of segments AB and CD by superposing them.

This example was created in support of our team's 2016 DRK-12 proposal.

To do:

  • Add more complete description and directions for the task.
  • Add a page that creates random problems.
  • Experiment with feedback for a successful effort.
  • Create the worksheet and implement both its link and its live display.
